This individual will play a vital role in helping students develop strong literacy skills while encouraging confidence, perseverance, and Christ-centered character through individualized instruction and support. Position Summary The Reading Intervention Teacher is responsible for providing targeted reading instruction for students in grades K-8 who would benefit from additional literacy support. This position works closely with classroom teachers, administrators, and families to assess student needs, implement evidence-based interventions, monitor progress, and help students become successful, confident readers within a Christ-centered learning environment. Key Responsibilities Provide small-group and individual reading intervention for students in grades K-8. Administer and interpret literacy assessments, including
DIBELS, MAP
Growth, and other progress-monitoring tools. Develop and implement individualized intervention plans based on student data. Monitor student progress regularly and adjust instruction to meet individual learning needs. Collaborate with classroom teachers to support student achievement and reinforce classroom instruction. Maintain accurate records of student assessments, intervention plans, and progress. Communicate effectively with parents regarding student growth and strategies for supporting literacy at home. Participate in Student Support Team meetings and collaborate in developing intervention strategies. Integrate biblical principles and Christ-centered character development into instruction. Foster a positive, encouraging learning environment where students feel supported and valued. Collaborate with colleagues to support school-wide goals and culture. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education, Elementary Education, Reading, or a related field (required). Oregon Teaching License (preferred but not required). Experience working with elementary or middle school students in reading instruction or intervention. Knowledge of evidence-based literacy instruction and the Science of Reading preferred. Experience administering and interpreting literacy assessments is preferred. Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills. A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a commitment to Christian education. Agreement with Morning Star Christian School's Statement of Faith.
