Category Schools - Reading Specialist Job Type Contract Make a significant impact in student literacy as a dedicated Reading Specialist at the elementary and K-8 levels. This full-time, onsite contract opportunity begins immediately and runs through June 10, 2027, making it ideal for professionals who are passionate about supporting reading achievement in an urban school environment. With two openings available, you'll have the chance to collaborate while providing essential reading interventions and literacy instruction for students at various grade levels, all within a supportive team atmosphere.
Key Qualifications:
Active Pennsylvania (PA) teaching certification or licensure Reading Specialist Certification required Previous school-based experience, especially in urban settings, is essential Proven expertise in classroom and behavior management strategies Demonstrated mastery of reading instruction, including current state and district standards Strong lesson planning skills with experience in formative assessment and instructional differentiation Ability to create a positive, supportive learning environment for diverse learners Reliable transportation required Comfortable working onsite and in the designated district All required PA clearances must be completed Prepared for a Zoom interview as part of the selection process
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and adapt lesson plans tailored to students' literacy needs from K-8 Deliver focused reading interventions and enrichment based on assessment data Maintain effective classroom management and foster a positive climate for learning Collaborate with teachers and staff to monitor progress and support student achievement Provide expertise and resources to promote effective reading programs This full-time position ensures you'll play a central role in helping students succeed, with 35 hours per week in a dynamic educational setting.
