One teacher will be assigned to each available campus. Schedule Availability Monday-Friday, 7:45 a.m.-2:45 p.m.Tentative campus start date:
ASAP Applicants must be available for the full daily schedule and required district training. Position Overview Teachers will support ESL and multilingual students , including students whose home languages may include Spanish, Arabic, Pashto, Farsi, Dari, and others. Selected teachers must be flexible and comfortable providing: Small-group reading intervention In-class instructional support Individualized assistance based on student needs Collaboration with classroom teachers and campus staff Progress monitoring and instructional documentation Early-Reading Experience Required Applicants must have demonstrated experience supporting early readers. Strong candidates should be familiar with HISD-aligned, Science of Reading practices, including: Explicit and systematic phonics instruction Phonemic and phonological awareness Decoding, word recognition, and spelling Oral reading fluency and repeated reading Vocabulary and reading-comprehension development Small-group instruction based on assessment data Frequent progress monitoring and instructional adjustments Scaffolds and visual supports for ESL and multilingual learners Minimum Qualifications Current Texas teaching certification or retired Texas-certified teacher status Professional experience teaching or supporting early readers Experience working with elementary-aged students Ability to support ESL and multilingual learners Willingness to work in both small-group and classroom settings Availability Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Ability to attend district training on August 7, 2026 Ability to complete all district-required onboarding and background-check requirements Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching Kindergarten through third-grade reading ESL, bilingual, reading specialist, or early-childhood certification Experience with reading intervention and progress-monitoring assessments Familiarity with HISD instructional expectations and curriculum Certified and retired certified teachers are encouraged to apply promptly.
