Position Number TBD Salary Commensurate with experience FLSA Exempt Employment Status Full Time 9 Mos Regular Appointment Type Full-time Tenure Track General Description The University of Montevallo invites applications for an open-rank, tenure-track faculty position in Counseling. The successful candidate will teach in the Graduate Counseling Program and serve as Director of the Grainger Community Counseling and Wellness Clinic, the program's on-campus training clinic. Responsibilities include teaching graduate counseling courses, providing leadership and oversight of clinic operations, providing site supervision to practicum and internship students completing clinical experiences within the clinic, supervising graduate assistants assigned to the clinic, and coordinating clinic-related community outreach initiatives. The position carries a 2/2 teaching load in recognition of the faculty member's assigned Clinic Director and clinical supervision responsibilities. The faculty member will also receive a separate contract for clinic operations during the summer outside of the 9-month base contract period. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Essential Job Duties Teach graduate-level courses in the Counseling Program with a 2/2 course load, reflecting assigned responsibilities as Director of the program's on-campus training clinic. Serve as Director of the Grainger Community Counseling and Wellness Clinic and provide leadership and oversight of the clinic's operations, clinical training activities, and community services. Provide site supervision for practicum and internship students completing clinical experiences within the Grainger Community Counseling and Wellness Clinic, consistent with program, university, accreditation, and professional standards. Supervise graduate assistants assigned to the Grainger Community Counseling and Wellness Clinic. Provide academic advising and mentorship to graduate students in the Counseling Program. Maintain an active program of scholarship, including peer-reviewed publications and professional presentations. Maintain an active professional counseling identity through engagement in relevant professional organizations and activities. Participate in recruitment, retention, and other initiatives that support the continued growth and success of the Counseling Program. Serve on department, college, and university committees and contribute service to the counseling profession and broader community. Perform other duties consistent with the faculty role and the needs of the Counseling Program. Additional Duties Perform other duties as assigned that are consistent with the faculty member's role, academic appointment, and responsibilities within the Counseling Program and Grainger Community Counseling and Wellness Clinic. Participate in additional program, department, college, or university initiatives as appropriate to the faculty role. Education and Experience Doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program (or related doctoral degree with one full-time faculty year before July 1, 2013).
- Demonstrated professional identity and active engagement in the counseling profession, including at least two of the following: Participation in counseling-related continuing education, conferences, workshops, or other professional development activities.
- Experience with the administration, coordination, or operation of a university-based counseling training clinic or comparable clinical training environment.
- Experience supervising and supporting the clinical development of graduate counseling students. Experience with CACREP-accredited counseling programs and clinical training standards.
