ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assisting the instructor of record with demonstration of laboratory techniques. Assisting the instructor of record with the direction of students in the laboratory setting.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a Science discipline or field of study is required; Proven laboratory skills required in respective disciplines; Proven knowledge of contemporary discipline theory and best practices is required; Ability to demonstrate current knowledge and technical expertise in the respective discipline; Ability to clearly, accurately, and effectively guide students in the development of necessary skills; Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; Sound judgement and professional behavior in the workplace; Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills; Proven knowledge of Microsoft Office software and IRSC's internet platform. A minimum of two (2) or more years of documented professional lab experience directly related to the discipline is preferred.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
: Assisting the instructor of record with facilitation of student learning and program goals. Assisting the instructor of record with assignments and direction of students in the laboratory setting. Assisting instructor of record with the proctoring of laboratory practical's/assessments. Assisting the instructor of record to support student success by referring students to college resources. Assisting the instructor of record with required documentation. Demonstration of safety principles. Completing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, and stoop. This position also requires s ufficient eyesight to observe, sufficient gross and fine motor coordination to respond promptly to situational needs, manipulate equipment and evaluate procedural results; sufficient hearing to assess needs and communicate verbally with students and others; sufficient verbal and written skills to communicate needs promptly and effectively in English; and lift a minimum of 30 pounds. It al so requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
