Job Description

High School Math & Science Teacher Living Word Academy | Orlando, Florida Living Word Academy is a private Christian school serving approximately 300 students from preschool through 12th grade. For more than 25 years, we have been committed to providing a Christ-centered education that equips students academically, spiritually, and personally to fulfill their God-given purpose. We are seeking a passionate and qualified High School Math & Science Teacher to join our faculty and inspire students to grow in knowledge, critical thinking, curiosity, and a love for learning. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mathematics and science, a heart for working with teenagers, and a genuine desire to support and contribute to our Christ-centered educational mission. This position offers the opportunity to teach a broad range of STEM subjects while creating an engaging, structured, and Christ-centered learning environment. Responsibilities Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards and the school's academic goals. Teach high school mathematics and science courses based on student needs and course assignments, which may include Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, Discrete Math, Differential Equations, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Physics, and related STEM subjects. Incorporate educational technology and innovative instructional strategies to enhance student learning and engagement. Provide hands-on learning experiences, including laboratory experiments and dissections, while maintaining appropriate safety protocols. Adapt instruction to accommodate different learning styles, academic abilities, and students requiring additional educational support. Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, projects, standardized testing, and other appropriate methods. Provide meaningful and constructive feedback to help students grow academically. Establish and maintain a positive, structured classroom environment that encourages respect, responsibility, curiosity, and academic excellence. Manage classroom behavior effectively and consistently in accordance with school policies and expectations. Mentor and encourage students academically, personally, and spiritually. Support the integration of a biblical worldview into instruction and classroom discussions when appropriate. Collaborate with faculty and administration in curriculum development, instructional planning, and student support. Maintain accurate grades, attendance, lesson plans, and other required records. Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, colleagues, and administration. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, chapel, school events, and other activities that contribute to the life and mission of Living Word Academy. Qualifications Teaching certification or Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Science Education, or a related field. Demonstrated knowledge and competency in high school mathematics and science. Previous experience teaching high school students preferred. Private Christian school experience is a plus. Strong classroom management and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively with students who have varied learning styles and academic needs. Experience incorporating technology into classroom instruction. Laboratory experience, including the ability to safely supervise experiments and dissections, is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to develop curriculum and instructional materials aligned with academic standards. Familiarity with standardized testing and applicable educational requirements.
