Non-Exempt Benefits Michigan Public School Employees Retirement Systems Department Iron Mt Academic Support Campus Location Iron Mountain Min Salary $18.82 Max Salary $22.14 FTE .5 Full-time/Part-time Part-Time Position Type Staff Job Summary/Basic Function The primary responsibility of this part-time, temporary position is to provide assistance to students in science courses at both Escanaba and Iron Mountain campuses. The position may include some virtual meetings with students, so candidates should be comfortable with videoconferencing software such as Zoom. Minimum Qualifications Associate's Degree (or at least two years of completed college coursework) with significant focus in chemistry or a related field At least two years of experience in tutoring, mentoring, group facilitation, or teaching Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Candidate must be committed to student retention and success and display exceptional interpersonal and team-working skills. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's in chemistry or related field Preference given to applicants with a strong background in chemistry Months Per Year 4-8 Hours Worked Per Week 15-20 Work Schedule This position will work 15- 20 hours per week based on student demand. Travel requirement N/A Job Duties Job Duty Collaborate with faculty to help students meet learning outcomes Job Duty Provide academic support for students who are having difficulty meeting the learning outcomes of the science courses Job Duty Provide individual and group tutoring and mentoring to science students Job Duty Recognize and respond to students according to their varying learning needs and use innovative strategies to assist them in grasping and applying subject matter.
