In this role, you will play a key part in preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals and supporting students pursuing transfer to four-year institutions. Serve as a pivotal guide for students in the Associate in Science program, helping them clarify and achieve their educational and transfer goals. Through personalized, intentional advising and close collaboration with student services, you will empower students to make informed decisions, stay on track, and successfully navigate their academic journeys.
Laboratory-Centered Collaboration:
Partner with lab coordinators and fellow science faculty to design and implement innovative, hands-on laboratory experiences. Utilize shared instructional spaces, simulations, and emerging technologies that mirror professional scientific environments, providing students with authentic, real-world learning opportunities.
State-of-the-Art Teaching Labs:

A Master's degree in Biology, Microbiology, or a closely related discipline (Ph.D. preferred), providing a strong foundation of expertise to inspire and guide students. Proven experience teaching General Biology and Microbiology, including the design and delivery of engaging, hands-on laboratory experiences that foster curiosity, scientific thinking, and real-world skills. A strong commitment to innovative, student-centered teaching practices that elevate learning, spark engagement, and support diverse student success. Dedicated educator with a strong commitment to student success, available to teach and support learning during days, evenings, and weekends. Flexible, dependable, and passionate about creating engaging learning experiences. Mastery of Subject Matter:
Demonstrate comprehensive, current, and evidence-based expertise in General Biology and Microbiology, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of scientific advances, best practices, and emerging trends in the biological sciences. Exhibit the ability to critically interpret, analyze, and evaluate foundational concepts, theories, and research in General Biology and Microbiology, translating complex material into meaningful learning experiences for students. Effectively connect biological principles to related disciplines—such as healthcare, public health, biotechnology, and environmental science—enhancing interdisciplinary understanding and real-world relevance. Show strong competency in laboratory and applied settings, including microbiology and biology laboratory techniques, safety protocols, and the integration of hands-on and clinical-style experiences that support student skill development.
Teaching Performance:
Teach assigned courses in alignment with the published curriculum and college guidelines, contributing meaningfully to FTCC's mission of student success and academic excellence. Create clear, engaging syllabi and course materials for each section, ensuring students understand expectations, learning outcomes, and pathways to success. Design and deliver dynamic learning experiences that bring course content to life and inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and mastery of key concepts. Adapt instructional strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners, support student retention, and connect students with academic resources and support services when needed. Partner with the Department Chairperson or Program Coordinator to continuously enhance instructional programs—contributing ideas related to curriculum innovation, instructional methods, delivery formats, laboratory and classroom resources, and emerging technologies. Stay current in the discipline and in teaching practice by integrating new instructional approaches, technologies, and evidence-based strategies into face-to-face and virtual classrooms. Contribute to the development of new courses and the ongoing refinement of existing offerings to ensure relevance, rigor, and alignment with workforce and transfer pathways. Cultivate welcoming, inclusive, and engaging learning environments—both in-person and online—where students feel supported, challenged, and motivated to succeed.
Mastery of Instructional Technology:
Leverage current and emerging technologies to create engaging, interactive learning experiences that enhance student understanding and success across all course formats. Demonstrate confidence and fluency with essential computer applications and instructional technologies to support effective teaching and communication. Design and maintain well-organized, student-friendly course sites for all assigned courses within FTCC's learning content management system, Canvas. Ensure all online and hybrid courses meet FTCC's Online Standards Handbook and Science Division Policies, reflecting a commitment to quality, accessibility, and best practices in digital learning. Curate high-quality, current, and credible digital resources using search engines, databases, and other electronic tools to enrich course content and student learning. Provide meaningful online study guides and supplemental materials that help students prepare, practice, and build confidence in challenging course concepts. Guide students in locating, evaluating, and effectively using electronic reference materials and online databases, empowering them with the research skills needed for academic and professional success.
Evaluation of Student Learning:
Structure courses and organize subject matter in a clear, purposeful way that helps all students understand course requirements, learning outcomes, and methods of assessment. Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records while ensuring all reports and documentation are submitted in a timely manner, supporting transparency and accountability. Use thoughtful, evidence-based evaluation tools and methods tailored to the learning domain, ensuring assessments truly reflect student understanding and mastery. Assess student performance fairly, consistently, and constructively, returning feedback promptly to foster growth, confidence, and continuous learning. Show empathy and responsiveness to students' diverse needs and circumstances, creating an inclusive and supportive environment where every learner feels valued and empowered to succeed.

Preferred Requirements PhD in Biology. Graduate courses specific to microbiology.
