Academic Year Faculty Position Brief Description of Duties:
SUNY Morrisville is seeking qualified candidates to apply for a tenure-track position. The position will start in August 2026. This full-time appointment focuses on networking, cybersecurity, general information technology, and systems administration at the undergraduate level. There will be limited capacity for research, but program expansion and curriculum development are expected from the successful candidate. Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to : The primary responsibility for this position is teaching a full course load of undergraduate courses (15-17 contact hours per semester). This includes courses in computer networking, cybersecurity fundamentals, ethical hacking and penetration testing, systems administration, cloud infrastructure, and IT support. Most courses have a structure with 2 lecture hours and 2 lab hours each week to enhance the applied education that SUNY Morrisville is renowned for. In addition to teaching, faculty members have an expectation of service to the campus community through committees, program review and assessment, and activities such as student club advising.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record in the following areas: Assistant Professor
  • Master's degree in Information technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related area OR Instructor
  • Bachelor's degree and relevant industry experience.
Practical experience in networking, cybersecurity, systems administration, and/or general IT infrastructure Hands-on experience with network protocols, routing and switching, firewalls, VPNs, and related technologies Knowledge of cybersecurity concepts including threat analysis, vulnerability assessment, and security frameworks (e.g., NIST, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent) Experience with operating systems administration including Windows Server, Linux, and virtualization platforms Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+/Network+/Security+, CCNA, or equivalent) are a plus
