Description:
An inquiry and problem solving approach forms an essential framework for the teaching of math, science and technology. This course examines assessment, curriculum and methods for developing, planning, implementing, and evaluating instructional strategies for students with disabilities, in the areas of math, science, and technology. It emphasizes teacher collaboration to support the differentiation of instruction based upon teaching structures, learner characteristics, learning environment, curriculum and standards. This course explores theoretical and practical frameworks for cross-curricular connections with access to the general education curriculum. Technology is both a subject of instruction as well as an instructional tool to support learning and communication.
Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver course content and materials aligned with the program curriculum. Grade and evaluate student performance in a timely manner, providing constructive feedback. Maintain open communication with students, including scheduled office hours or availability for consultation. Submit final grades and required course documentation (e.g., attendance records) by institutional deadlines. Collaborate with program faculty on course coordination and attend relevant program meetings, if necessary.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in education, or related field, required. 5 or more years of teaching adolescents with disabilities in STEM curricular areas, preferred. Experience in public schools, preferred. Critical orientation to issues of access and equity, preferred. Experience collaborating with general education teachers in modifying and adapting curriculum, preferred. Strong skills in communication, collaboration, and organization, preferred. Experience teaching at the graduate level, preferred.
