Instructor, iCode Rego Park Overview The Lab Mentor assists Instructors and students at iCode Rego Park. This role requires an enthusiastic individual who is excited about working with children and young adults ages 5 to 17. The Lab Mentor should also be comfortable with STEAM and computer science concepts. This position does not require prior teaching or STEAM education experience. This position is in-person only. Hours of operation are anticipated to be between 3:30pm and 8pm on weekdays. This position will report to the Lead Instructor. The Lab Mentor will coordinate with the Lead Instructor to determine a schedule, which is not expected to exceed 22 hours per week. Key ResponsibilitiesSet-up, Maintenance and Cleanup Prepare classroom materials in advance of a scheduled class. Troubleshoot technical equipment issues which may arise during class. Put away classroom materials after a scheduled class and clean surfaces in preparation for the next class. Student Engagement and Evaluation Record attendance. Collaborate with Instructors and Senior Instructors to ensure all students receive an excellent level of care and attention. Help maintain records on student performance. Homework Help Monitor elementary, middle and high school students, ensuring a quiet environment conducive to the completion of homework. Offer advice and guidance to students with questions about their homework assignments.
Qualifications Education:
High school diploma preferred.
Skills:
Enthusiasm for working with students ranging from grades K to 12. Comfort with Microsoft computers and application software. Positive, outgoing attitude and excellent people skills. Good written and verbal communication skills. GPA exceeding 3.8 for applicants without a high school diploma.
