You're invited to help the Georgia Appalachian Trail Club's (GATC) Rock Crew on Sunday, Dec. 20 from 9 am - 4 pm near Woody Gap in Georgia! You'll be working alongside experienced leaders who will provide training and guidance. If you've ever wondered how rocks are used to make the trail more sustainable, this is a fun way to find out from experienced volunteers and enjoy time in the woods! Training is provided for first-timers. Volunteers will work at Big Cedar Mountain, installing new rock steps. The first mile in is considered easy, followed by approximately !/4 mile of strenuous hiking. Wear long pants and sturdy shoes/boots. Bring work gloves and a hard hat if you have your own, otherwise the club can loan you these items. Bring a lunch, snacks and plenty of water. All tools are provided by the Club. For additional information please contact Kelly Motter at kellylee28@aol.com. Registration required.
