Job Summary:
A CDL Dump Truck/Haul Truck Driver is an hourly-rated skilled craft position that performs on construction projects any combination of the duties described more fully below. The primary function is to safely load and secure equipment and/or materials and move them from one location to another. This position may also perform a wide variety of tasks, transferring from one task to another as the workflow dictates. Safely operate a large dump truck and/or articulated haul truck to transport construction materials and equipment to and from job sites. Secure and properly load/unload cargo onto the truck, ensuring it is properly secured and balanced. Perform daily inspections of the truck and equipment to ensure safety, functionality, and that all necessary documentation is completed accurately. Checking fluid levels on oil, water, fuel and inspections for leaks and damage to vehicle prior to operation, daily. Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and safety protocols while operating the flatbed truck. Communicate effectively with supervisors, dispatchers, and team members regarding job assignments and any potential issues or delays. Comply with all applicable federal, state, and company safety regulations. Display a strong commitment to safe work practices.
Requirements and Education:
Valid commercial driver's license (Class A CDL) and driving record with MVR policy guidelines. Ability to successfully pass DOT background requirements. Good experience with the safe operation of large dump trucks and/or articulated haul trucks. Familiarity with
DOT & FMCSA
safety regulations, DOT logs, and inspections. Ability to read and interpret maps, GPS systems, and job site instructions. Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and supervisors. Experience with air brakes and standard transmission. Ability to calculate weights of equipment to stay within DOT permitting restrictions and guidelines.
Preferred Requirements and Education:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Ability to drive trucks equipped with different trailer combinations and/or operate other heavy equipment is a plus.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Perform physically demanding work in a construction and field environment, often under adverse weather and site conditions. Lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 150 pounds with assistance. Walk on uneven terrain, including natural ground surfaces, for extended periods. Stand for prolonged periods while performing assigned duties. Demonstrate the physical capability to perform strenuous labor, including lifting, carrying, and moving heavy objects. Maintain sufficient core and lower back strength to support continuous physical activity throughout the workday. Exhibit excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination necessary to safely operate tools, equipment, and materials. Possess strong multi-limb coordination and the ability to quickly and effectively move arms and legs in response to changing work conditions. Demonstrate the ability to perform physically demanding movements, including jumping, sprinting, and other dynamic tasks as required. Maintain a high level of stamina and endurance to meet the physical demands of the position. Remain continuously alert and aware of surrounding activities on active construction sites. Monitor and respond appropriately to the actions of employees, contractors, stationary equipment, and moving equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations. Work safely and effectively in a fast-paced environment requiring constant situational awareness and adherence to safety standards.
