Recreation Academy Instructor (Part-Time)

Part-Time Independent Contractor (1099) Immediate Hiring - Flexible Part-Time Work with Kids The Recreation Academy is hiring energetic, dependable instructors to lead after-school enrichment programs, sports clinics, school break camps, and special events throughout the St. Louis area. Locations We're currently hiring in: Kirkwood Shrewsbury St. Peters Ladue University City Brentwood Webster Groves Maplewood Richmond Heights Surrounding St. Louis communities What You'll Do As a Recreation Academy Instructor, you'll independently lead groups of children in engaging activities while ensuring a safe, organized, and positive environment.
Responsibilities include:
Lead games, sports, STEM activities, and enrichment programs. Supervise participants and maintain a safe environment. Prepare lesson materials and organize equipment before each program. Travel to assigned program locations (you choose which shifts you accept). Communicate professionally with parents, coworkers, and Recreation Academy supervisors. Complete daily program reports and incident reports through our online staff portal. Upload at least three program photos when permitted. Return equipment on time and in good condition. Foster teamwork, confidence, sportsmanship, and positive behavior. Programs Include After-School Enrichment Clubs Sports & Games Basketball Clinics Flag Football Wiffle Ball Dodgeball Gaga Ball Foam-Tipped Archery Minecraft Pokémon Trading Card Game RC Racing Domino Mega Builders (STEM) School Break Camps Summer Camps Winter Camps Spring Break Camps Birthday Parties & Community Events Schedule This position offers an extremely flexible schedule. Choose the days you work. Choose the locations where you work. Choose the programs you'd like to teach. Accept shifts through our online staff portal. School-year, weekend, evening, and school break opportunities are available. Pay Base pay starts at $15.00 per hour . Earn up to an additional $5.00 per hour during the school year by meeting program incentive requirements. Summer programs offer up to an additional $2.50 per hour in incentives. Many specialized programs pay above the base rate. Compensation for each shift is clearly listed before you accept it.
Qualifications Applicants must:
Be at least 18 years old. Have at least one year of experience working with children. Have reliable transportation. Possess a valid driver's license and current auto insurance. Obtain state-required Mandated Reporter certification before working. Hold or obtain CPR/First Aid certification. Complete a 25-minute orientation video and online training modules. Pass state and federal background checks, including a sex offender registry check. Be dependable, energetic, organized, and comfortable leading groups independently.
