INSTRUCTORS
Do you enjoy working with kids and bringing learning to life? Level UP Enrichment is hiring After-School Chess and STEM Instructors in the Round Rock area for Fall 2026. For the past six years, Level UP Enrichment has provided engaging after-school programs that help children build confidence, creativity, communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and curiosity through hands-on activities and guided instruction. You bring the energy, leadership, subject knowledge, and enthusiasm . We provide the curriculum, lesson plans, training, and program materials . Current Openings We are currently hiring specifically for Chess and STEM . We are not currently recruiting for our other enrichment programs in the Round Rock area. Chess Instructor Previous Chess experience and working knowledge of the game are required. Chess applicants should be comfortable explaining and teaching concepts such as: Legal piece movement and basic rules Check and checkmate Castling Forks Pins Skewers Basic strategy and piece development Sportsmanship and appropriate game play You do not need to be a tournament-level player, but you must have enough Chess knowledge and experience to confidently teach beginning and developing elementary-age players, answer student questions, recognize legal and illegal moves, and guide students through games. Experience teaching, coaching, tutoring, or working with children is strongly preferred. STEM Instructor- Wednesday We currently have one STEM opening on Wednesdays working with younger students, primarily ages 4-6 .

Guaranteed Class Minimum:
Instructors are typically paid for a minimum of 1.5 hours per scheduled class to account for required setup, instruction, and student dismissal Employees are paid for all compensable time worked Paid required training Pre-written curriculum and lesson plans Program materials provided Gas bonus for qualifying school assignments located more than 15 miles from your starting location, subject to company policy Flexible part-time scheduling Professional development opportunities Employee referral program A Day on the Job You will travel to an assigned school in the Round Rock area and independently lead an engaging after-school Chess or STEM class using Level UP's provided curriculum and materials.Your responsibilities may include:
Arriving early enough to prepare the learning space and program materials Safely transporting and organizing program supplies Checking students into the program Independently leading the assigned lesson Explaining concepts in an age-appropriate and engaging way Keeping students actively participating Establishing and maintaining clear classroom expectations Redirecting student behavior appropriately Maintaining a safe, structured, and positive learning environment Supervising students throughout the entire program Responding promptly and calmly to student safety concerns Communicating professionally with students, families, school staff, and Level UP leadership Following all student attendance, dismissal, and safety procedures Returning and maintaining program materials as directed This position can be a strong fit for educators, substitute teachers, college students, Chess players or coaches, STEM enthusiasts, childcare professionals, camp counselors, tutors, and others seeking meaningful part-time afternoon work. Essential Physical & Classroom Functions This position requires employees to safely supervise children and lead an active after-school program. Qualified employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation .Essential functions may include:
Lifting & Materials Handling:
Safely lift, carry, push, pull, and maneuver up to 40 pounds of program materials, including Chess cases, rolling suitcases, storage containers, and supply bins.Materials Transportation:
Safely transport and manage program materials between required locations and assigned school sites.Mobility & Student Safety Response:
Move safely and quickly through indoor and outdoor school environments and respond promptly when a student or situation requires immediate supervision or safety intervention.Active Supervision:
Continuously monitor students and remain attentive to student location, participation, behavior, and safety.Independent Group Supervision:
Independently supervise and manage groups of up to approximately 20 elementary-age students or smaller groups of younger students, depending on the assignment.Classroom Management:
Establish expectations, give clear instructions, redirect behavior appropriately, and maintain a structured learning environment.Communication:
Clearly and professionally communicate instructions, safety expectations, and program information to children and adults.Active Classroom Environment:
Remain engaged and responsive while working in an environment that may be active, energetic, or loud.Emergency Response:
Take prompt, appropriate action when a student leaves the designated area, experiences an emergency, or otherwise requires immediate adult intervention. Required Qualifications All applicants must have: A genuine interest in working with children Strong communication and interpersonal skills Confidence independently leading and supervising groups of students Dependability and strong time-management skills Availability at least 2 weekdays per week between 2:30 PM and 4:15 PM Reliable transportation to assigned school sites Ability to safely transport required program supplies for assigned classes A working smartphone Ability to follow school-site safety, attendance, and dismissal procedures Ability to complete all legally required employment and school-site screening requirements When driving is required to perform assigned job duties, employees must maintain any driver's license, vehicle insurance, and other documentation required by applicable law and company policy. Additional Requirement for Chess Applicants Chess applicants must have previous experience playing Chess and sufficient knowledge to teach elementary-age students. Applicants should understand fundamental Chess rules and concepts, including forks, pins, skewers, checkmate, and castling . Additional Requirement for STEM Applicants Applicants for the Wednesday STEM position must have previous experience or demonstrated ability working with children and must be comfortable leading hands-on activities for students approximately 4-6 years old . Preferred Qualifications We especially encourage applicants with experience in: Teaching or substitute teaching Tutoring Chess clubs, coaching, or competitive/recreational Chess STEM education Early childhood education Childcare Camps or youth programs Classroom management LEGO or engineering activities Working independently with groups of children Education, child development, psychology, recreation, STEM, or a related field Background Screening & School-Site Clearance Because this position involves recurring direct contact with children in school environments, employment and placement are contingent upon successful completion of all legally required background screening, fingerprinting, school-district/vendor clearance, and pre-service documentation applicable to the assignment .
