A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in education. Current State of Alaska teaching certificate accepted by Fairbanks North Star Borough School District. Experience working with students with mental health disabilities preferred. Collaborative and team-oriented approach. Certified in Managing Aggressive Behavior or willing to be certified. Commitment to providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment. This position is a driving position . Applicants will be required to submit a driving record if selected for the position. All applicants must be at least 21 years of age due to State of AK regulations and must pass a State of AK Background Check.Family Centered Services of Alaska Benefits :
