Job Description

Make a real difference in the lives of students by stepping into a rewarding Special Education teaching role at schools near Columbiana, AL. This contract position offers the unique opportunity to serve on-site within a collaborative, student-centered environment for the upcoming academic year. You'll work with a dedicated group of students within an assigned caseload, fostering growth and development alongside supportive colleagues. The contract spans from August 4, 2026, through May 26, 2027, with a commitment of 37.5 hours per week. Locations include elementary and intermediate school campuses as well as middle/high, providing a varied and meaningful teaching experience within your licensure area. Qualifications Active and verifiable Special Education Teacher certification in Alabama (certification lookup) K-6 Certification required for inclusion positions 6-12 Certification accepted for both self-contained and inclusion roles Previous teaching experience in special education settings preferred Excellent communication skills and a student-centered mindset Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and families Key Responsibilities Deliver specialized instruction tailored to each student's IEP Monitor progress, maintain documentation, and adjust strategies as needed Collaborate with general educators, paraprofessionals, and support staff Engage with families to ensure student success Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment Participate in professional development and adhere to district guidelines This is your chance to inspire and guide students toward their fullest potential while gaining invaluable professional experience.
