What they do
A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description
CCLC Site Coordinator Funding:
100%Title IV, Part B Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
- Current valid Alabama Teacher's Certificate.
- Demonstrated successful teaching experience in a K-12 environment.
- Demonstrated positive communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Passion for Out-of-School Time (OST) programming and students.
- 21st CCLC grant knowledge preferred.
- Demonstrated technology skills preferred.
Essential Duties:
- Create a classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth.
- Establish effective rapport with students.
- Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good educational foundation.
- Establish a positive relationship with students, parents, co-workers, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
- Conduct project-based learning activities based on direction from the 21st CCLC Site Coordinator.
- Support the use of technology to motivate and prepare students for the 21st century.
- Provide a safe, orderly environment that facilitates learning.
- Perform related duties as required by the 21st CCLC Extended Day Coordinator.
