ASAP Position Overview Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K-8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities. AMS is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Special Education Teacher for 4th-5th Grades to join our team at the AMS Peoria Advanced Campus for the 2026 - 2027 school year. The Special Education Teacher is responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This role works closely with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure that all students receive the accommodations, services, and support necessary to succeed academically and socially. The ideal candidate is a collaborative and data-driven educator who is committed to creating inclusive learning environments and helping students reach their full potential. Key Responsibilities Instruction & Student Achievement Deliver specialized instruction aligned with IEP goals and Arizona academic standards. Differentiate instruction to support students with diverse learning needs and abilities. Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals using data-driven instructional practices. Implement appropriate accommodations, modifications, and interventions to support student success. Support students in developing academic, organizational, and self-advocacy skills. Compliance & IEP Management Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulations. Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with families, administrators, and related service providers. Maintain accurate and timely documentation related to student services and compliance requirements. Ensure all special education services are delivered in accordance with IDEA and Arizona Department of Education guidelines. Collaboration & Professional Growth Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive instructional practices and student accommodations. Participate in professional learning communities (PLCs) and ongoing professional development. Work closely with instructional coaches, administrators, and support staff to improve student outcomes. Contribute to school-wide systems that support positive scholar culture and academic growth. Family Engagement Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and IEP implementation. Participate in parent meetings, conferences, and IEP reviews. Support families in understanding student accommodations, services, and academic goals. Minimum Qualifications Candidates must meet the following requirements: Arizona Special Education Teaching Certification (or ability to obtain certification) Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field Additionally, candidates must: Demonstrate strong classroom management skills Pass required background checks and obtain an IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card Show commitment to serving Title I and multilingual communities Demonstrate strong analytical skills and a data-driven instructional mindset Exhibit collaboration, professionalism, and initiative in a team-based environment Compensation & Benefits AMS offers a competitive compensation and benefits package designed to support professional growth and long-term career success.
