  • Full-time, Contract Overview We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher for the 2026-27 school year to join our educational team.
This role involves designing and implementing individualized instructional plans tailored to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities, including those with autism, developmental disabilities, visual impairments, and other special needs. The ideal candidate will foster an inclusive learning environment that promotes academic growth, social-emotional development, and independence. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children by applying innovative teaching strategies and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Responsibilities Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized education programs (IEPs) aligned with state standards and student needs. Design engaging lesson plans that incorporate curriculum development, learning technology, and specialized instructional strategies. Adapt instructional materials and methods to accommodate students with various disabilities, including deaf education, visually impaired education, and early childhood education. Utilize behavioral therapy techniques, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and other evidence-based practices to support behavioral health and management. Collaborate with speech therapists, occupational therapists, counselors, and other specialists to support comprehensive student development. Manage classroom environments effectively through classroom management techniques that promote positive behavior and engagement. Conduct assessments using standardized testing and formative evaluations to monitor student progress. Maintain detailed documentation of student progress, IEP goals, and behavioral interventions. Provide tutoring, literacy education, math instruction, and physical education tailored to individual learning needs. Engage in ongoing professional development related to special education practices, instructional design, and inclusive teaching methods. Support early intervention initiatives and participate in parent meetings to communicate student progress. Incorporate recreational therapy, music therapy, or library services as appropriate to enhance learning experiences. Mentor new teachers or aides as part of a collaborative team environment. Requirements Valid state certification/license in special education or equivalent qualification. Proven classroom experience working with children with disabilities across diverse settings such as private schools or early childhood programs. Knowledge of special education laws, IEP development process, and behavioral health strategies. Familiarity with learning technology tools and instructional design principles for diverse learners. Experience working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, visual impairments, or hearing impairments. Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with students, parents, colleagues, and external specialists. Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively while fostering a supportive learning environment. Background in literacy education, math instruction, physical education, or preschool experience is advantageous.
