Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Empower students as a dedicated teacher meeting the diverse needs of visually impaired learners. This engaging contract role begins October 12, 2026 and continues through June 4, 2027. You will serve on-site as an itinerant instructor, supporting students in a dynamic educational environment near Berkeley, CA. Your expertise will help foster independence, inclusion, and academic growth for students requiring specialized instruction.
Qualifications & Experience:
Valid California teaching credential with Visual Impairment (VI) endorsement required Strong background working with visually impaired students, ideally in a school setting Confidence in adapting curriculum and materials for accessibility and inclusion Excellent communication skills with students, families, and colleagues Experience managing itinerant or multi-site caseloads preferred Up-to-date on best practices and assistive technologies for visual impairments Commitment to fostering independence and advocacy skills in students
Key Responsibilities:
Provide tailored instruction to students with visual impairments in an on-site, itinerant capacity Adapt lesson plans and materials using braille, tactile tools, and assistive technology Collaborate with general education staff and related service providers Assess student progress and maintain accurate educational records Partner closely with families to support Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and transitions Advocate for accessibility and inclusion within the educational environment Travel between multiple school sites as needed within the assigned region
