Job Description

Empower students with visual impairments to achieve their highest potential as a Visually Impaired Teacher supporting learners for the 2026-2027 school year. This contract position offers you the opportunity to provide essential itinerant services in an on-site only capacity, working within a collaborative educational community near Berkeley, CA. You will deliver specialized instruction, ensuring every student receives the support and resources they need to thrive academically and socially.
Qualifications & Experience:
Valid California teaching credential with a Visually Impaired (VI) endorsement Demonstrated experience or enthusiasm for working with K-12 students with visual impairments Strong collaboration and organizational skills, comfortable navigating multiple school sites Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment Professional references and proof of licensure required
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction and consultation services to students with visual impairments, tailored to individual IEP goals Travel between various sites within the district as part of an itinerant schedule Support classroom teachers and staff in implementing accommodations and specialized strategies Maintain organized documentation and progress reports, attending IEP meetings as a contributing team member Create and adapt accessible instructional materials and assistive technology for students Serve as an advocate for students, building partnerships with families and multidisciplinary teams Why this opportunity stands out: Contract assignment spanning a full academic year, allowing you to make a significant impact On-site only role for engaging, hands-on collaboration with students and staff Competitive compensation package commensurate with experience, including all required employer contributions Inspire, guide, and champion students—apply now by submitting your resume, a completed supervisor reference, and proof of your licensure.
