- Position Overview
- The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, provides quality educational services to special education students in grades K-12.
This role involves collaboration with educational teams to plan, implement, and support individualized student programs through specialized instruction, tutorial assistance, and consultation with general education staff.
- Key Responsibilities
- + Provide specialized instruction to students receiving special education services.
+ Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
+ Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and related service providers to support student success.
+ Adapt curriculum and instructional methods to meet individual student needs.
+ Maintain accurate documentation and student progress records.
+ Participate in team meetings, parent conferences, and educational planning sessions.
+ Support compliance with state, federal, and local special education requirements.
- Minimum Qualifications
- + Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university preferred.
+ Valid state teaching certification as required by applicable regulations.
+ Minimum one year of teaching experience preferred.
+ Standard Elementary Teaching Certification preferred.
+ Standard Secondary Teaching Certification preferred.
+ Standard Special Teaching Certification preferred.
+ Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement preferred.
+ Current CPR certification, if applicable.
+ Current health certificate, if required.
+ TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray if applicable.
+ Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements.
+ Must be at least 18 years of age.
+ Commitment to professional standards and best practices in education.
