A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Must be able to respond quickly to child's different and personal needs (verbal and non-verbal cues), temperament styles, abilities, and cultures. Duties include daily documentation of individual needs, strengths, interests, service plan, attendance, and meal counts for each child. Prospective teachers must also have the ability to plan and implement lesson plan activities and experiences that are developmentally appropriate.Minimum Requirements:
- 12 ECE units minimum
- First Aid/ CPR Certified (preferred, but not required)
- Minimum 1 year experience preferred
- Up-to-date immunizations
- Fingerprint clearance through Live Scan
