This full-time opportunity involves working 37.5 hours per week, providing specialized instruction and advocacy for students with hearing differences. Qualifications and Experience Sought:
Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) or equivalent credentials. Experience supporting K-12 students in school environments preferred. Strong knowledge of instructional strategies and communication modalities for deaf and hard of hearing learners. Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including speech pathologists, audiologists, and general education staff. Comfortable adapting lessons to meet diverse needs, utilizing technology, visual aids, and language supports. Excellent communication, organizational, and advocacy skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct and consultative instructional support for K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with families and school teams. Utilize appropriate communication methods, including sign language and oral approaches, as needed. Monitor progress and adjust teaching strategies to promote academic and social success. Serve as a resource to educators, students, and families on best practices and accommodations. Participate in IEP meetings, staff development, and ongoing professional learning.
