Assisting Teacher Job Summary The Assisting Teacher is responsible for assisting the Classroom Teacher in the implementation of the designated program and supporting the program in providing quality, individualized instruction to all students. This includes curriculum activities, events, and communication with students, staff, and parents. The Assisting Teacher is also responsible for supporting the management of the physical and emotional classroom environment in accordance with the expectations of the program. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Support the maintenance of a physical classroom environment that meets the individual needs of the students: stimulating, accessible, organized and clean. Participate in the cooperative curriculum planning process (with other Assisting Teachers) for our Outdoor Learning Environment and implement effectively. Supervise and facilitate a safe and enriching Outdoor Learning Environment. Assist with the implementation of daily lesson/activity plans for Opening Circle Time, Center Time, Music/Motor Development, Inside/Outside Time, Literature-based Group Time, and Closing Circle Time. Support a positive and engaging Nutrition and Lunch Time and support Pacific Prep School's Nutritional Guidelines. Become familiar with Pacific Prep School's Comprehensive Assessment Process and understand the skills on the Assessment Grid to assist the Classroom Teacher in supporting the individual needs of the students in the class. This may include providing feedback as needed. Support the Classroom Teacher in assessing the individual developmental needs and strengths of the students according to the age of the students in the classroom. This includes contributing to ongoing documentation and running records, as needed, using Pacific Prep School's Assessment Tools (Steno Pad, Observation Pads, Running Records). In collaboration with the Classroom Teacher, participate in, initiate, and support positive daily communications with students, staff, and parents. Perform the duties and responsibilities of the Classroom Teacher in her absence. Gain a knowledge base of all individual students and their families in your assigned classroom. Help maintain a safe, healthy, and positive classroom environment by providing hands-on, visual supervision and support at all times. Respond to and assist with the health, safety, hygienic and personal care needs of the children. Adhere to and implement our Daily Cleaning and Sanitizing Procedures including, but not limited to, routine sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, wiping tables, and restocking sanitary supplies (towels, soap, spray cleaner, etc.). Perform other duties as requested by your Director based on the needs of the program. Requirements and Qualifications Completion of a minimum of 12 units in Early Childhood Education. Must meet all requirements for a Preschool Facility Assisting Teacher according to the regulations set by the

California Department of Social Services:

Community Care Licensing division. Must have completed or are working towards an ECE Certificate or academic equivalency, or a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development. Must have knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for young children and be able to apply that knowledge in the classroom setting. Must demonstrate understanding of how engaging and hands-on curriculum activities leads to skill acquisition and be able to facilitate curriculum across all learning domains. Must be in alignment with the overall philosophy of Pacific Prep School. •Live Scan/Background Fingerprint Clearance and Valid TB test will be required•
