Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Bring your expertise in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education to a dynamic school environment near Long Beach, CA. This contract opportunity allows you to make a meaningful impact supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, collaborating closely with faculty and families to deliver accessible, engaging learning experiences.
Required Skills & Experience:
Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing Demonstrated experience teaching students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing within a school setting Strong knowledge of instructional strategies, accommodations, and assistive technology relevant to Deaf/Hard of Hearing learners Proficiency in sign language (such as ASL), cued speech, or other communication methodologies as appropriate Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with students, parents, and staff Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction tailored to the unique needs of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing Collaborate with classroom teachers and related service providers to ensure curriculum accessibility and inclusive practices Participate in IEP meetings, contributing expertise to set meaningful goals and evaluate progress Employ a range of instructional strategies to foster language, literacy, and academic skills Integrate technology and adaptive tools to enhance learning Offer support and resources to families, empowering them as partners in their children's education This contract role offers you the chance to contribute your specialized skills to enrich the academic and personal growth of each student.
