Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our educational team. This role involves designing and implementing tailored instructional strategies to support students with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities, developmental delays, and neurodevelopmental disorders. The ideal candidate will foster an inclusive classroom environment that promotes academic achievement, social-emotional growth, and independence. Responsibilities Develop and execute individualized education plans (IEPs) that meet each student's unique needs and comply with special education law. Implement evidence-based teaching strategies, including curriculum development, instructional modifications, and behavioral management techniques. Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, and parents to support comprehensive student development. Utilize educational technology tools to enhance learning experiences and facilitate communication for students with disabilities. Conduct assessments, including standardized testing and progress monitoring, to evaluate student growth and adjust instruction accordingly. Manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement techniques and behavior management plans tailored for students with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities. Provide tutoring, literacy education, math instruction, and early childhood education to support foundational skills. Maintain detailed documentation of student progress, IEP goals, and behavioral interventions for compliance and reporting purposes. Engage in ongoing professional development related to special education best practices, neurodevelopmental disorders support, and inclusive teaching methodologies. Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding student progress, challenges, and strategies for home support. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; advanced certifications or licenses in special education are preferred. Proven experience working with children with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders and developmental delays. Strong knowledge of special education law, IEP development, instructional modifications, and behavior management strategies. Familiarity with speech therapy techniques, literacy education methods, math instruction, and early intervention practices. Experience integrating educational technology into classroom instruction effectively. Excellent communication skills to collaborate with families, colleagues, and external professionals. Classroom management skills that foster a positive learning environment for diverse learners. Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs across various age groups within elementary or preschool settings. Knowledge of behavioral health principles and behavioral therapy techniques applicable in educational contexts.
