For over 40 years, since 1983, Professional Tutors of America, Inc. has provided educational services to thousands of students throughout California and nationwide. Our company began first as a tutoring company, and over the years, we have evolved into a comprehensive, full-service Educational Consultant for over 300 School Districts. We offer a variety of services, including Academic Instruction, Occupational Therapy, Language and Speech, Counseling, and Mental Health Services. The services we provide are a combination of Compensatory Services, Home/Hospital Instruction, and in some cases, Primary Instruction and/or Therapy. Our Special Education team is looking for enthusiastic Special Education Teachers who can provide Academic Support to students in Oceanside, CA. Our SPED Teachers can earn $40-$50 per hour depending on education, teaching credentials, and professional teaching experience. Tutors in California are part-time employees and are reimbursed for mileage and travel time while on the clock (tutoring session to tutoring session). Administrative time is also provided.
Minimum Requirements:
Must have California Issued Teaching Credential (Special Education Credential- preliminary or clear term) Must pass and clear a CA Live Scan (background check) Provide a Tuberculosis clearance (under 4 years old) upon hire Ability to tutor in person at the student's home Motivation and passion to help our students achieve academic excellence Communicate ongoing student progress with parents and case manager Collaborate with families on students' needs and IEP goals Ability to tutor and instruct special education students
Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one tutoring sessions to enhance students' understanding of English and other subjects. Assist students with homework and testing scores by improving their overall educational skills and ability to understand lesson plans and materials. Utilize learning technologies to facilitate effective teaching and track student progress. Manage one-on-one classroom dynamics and maintain a positive learning environment. Foster a nurturing atmosphere that encourages students to express themselves and develop critical thinking skills.
The logistics:
Our model is entirely 1-to-1, and our services are provided either at the student's home or the nearest public library if the home is not a suitable location. Our teachers can create their schedules with the parents based on their availability. Most of our services are provided outside school hours, either in the afternoon, evenings, or weekends if desired. Some assignments are available during the school day for those looking for daytime work. Teachers can work with as few (1) or as many (10+) students as they want on their caseload.
