A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Responsibilities and Duties :
Adapt classroom work for the purpose of providing students with instructional materials. Administer developmental testing programs, subject-specific assessments, etc. Advise parents and/or legal guardians of student progress. Monitor students' behavior/activities in a variety of educational environments. Participate in and/or coordinates a variety of meetings (e.g. PLC, IEP, Department, School) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.Qualifications and Skills :
Bachelor's degree or higher in the field of Special Education from an accredited university programs. In personExperience working with visually impaired or hearing-impaired students; knowledge of assistive devices is preferred. Familiarity with standardized testing procedures and tutoring strategies for academic reinforcement. Knowledge of applied behavior analysis (ABA), behavioral therapy techniques, and behavioral health practices. Competence in lesson planning that aligns with educational standards while addressing individual IEP goals. Experience in mentoring new teachers or providing teacher collaboration within a team setting. Strong organizational skills for managing multiple cases while maintaining detailed records.
