Desired Skills and Experience:

Valid teaching certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or equivalent Previous experience working with visually impaired students in a K-12 setting Strong understanding of braille, assistive technologies, and accessible instructional materials Ability to develop, implement, and adapt individualized education plans (IEPs) Excellent collaboration and communication skills with students, staff, and families

Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct instruction in accordance with students IEP goals, using best practices for visually impaired learners Adapt and create accessible teaching materials and modify curriculum as needed Collaborate with general and special education teachers to foster inclusion and support across classrooms Conduct assessments and communicate progress regularly with families and educational teams Offer guidance and training to school personnel on best practices for accessibility Seize the opportunity to shape the educational journey of students who are visually impaired.
