Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description

Juniper Ridge Community School is seeking a Special Education Teacher to join our team in Grand Junction, CO for the 2026 2027 school year. Juniper Ridge Community School seeks a Moderate Needs SPED teacher who loves children, enjoys working with parents, and is committed to working with colleagues. Our ideal candidate must have or be eligible for a Colorado Teaching License with a Special Education Generalist Endorsement. Juniper Ridge Community School is a Public Charter School guided by the core principles of Public Waldorf education in Grand Junction, Colorado, and is part of the Mesa County Valley School District 51. The school opened in the fall of 2013. It now has over 400 students and offers education in grades K-8. Our curriculum includes Spanish, handwork, woodwork, music, and physical education. Festivals and celebrations are community-oriented. Our Board is active and well-established and our strong Parent Council reflects a supportive and diverse parent body. Duties include but are not limited to: Implement curriculum and state standards in accordance with IEP requirements and students with targeted need. Develop and implement IEPs, conducting reviews. Assist with District 51 level assessments as needed Meet student minutes inside and outside of the classroom, according to IEP requirements. Monitor children's behavioral patterns and arrange appropriate interventions as needed Collaborate and communicate with colleagues, students, and parents Engaging families in a professional, articulate, and forthright manner.
