Special Education Teacher (Learning Specialist•Affective Needs) Thornton, CO Full-Time | 40 Hours/Week | 2026-2027

School Year Pay :

$50•$55 Hourly We're hiring a Special Education Teacher (Learning Specialist•Affective Needs) to support K-5 students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs in a specialized elementary classroom. PM Hours:

40 hours/week

Caseload:

Approximately 7-9 students

Support:

Two classroom paraprofessionals Responsibilities Provide specialized instruction in Reading, Writing, Math, Executive Functioning, and Behavior. Develop and implement IEPs, FBAs, and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). Use positive behavior supports, trauma-informed practices, and de-escalation strategies. Monitor student progress and use assessment data to guide instruction. Collaborate with families, general education teachers, and multidisciplinary teams. Support students in both the specialized classroom and general education settings. Qualifications Active Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Special Education License (required at submission) Minimum 1-2 years of special education teaching experience (or student teaching) Experience with IEPs, behavior intervention, and progress monitoring Experience supporting students with emotional and behavioral needs preferred Strong communication and collaboration skills

Pay:

$50.00•$55.00 per hour
