Swimming Simply is growing, and we are hiring 2-3 exceptional Senior Swim Instructors & Operations Specialists to start immediately. This is a 32-hour-per-week, full-time position with health benefits designed for experienced swim instructors who want to make teaching swimming their profession—not simply a side job.
Most importantly:
you need to love teaching swimming. Senior Instructors will typically spend 25-28 hours per week teaching in the pool , with the remaining hours focused on supporting swimmers and families, mentoring other instructors, and helping our pool operations run exceptionally well. For instructors who want closer to a 40-hour workweek , additional teaching opportunities may also be available through Swimming Everywhere as a mobile and/or neurodiverse swim instructor. $500 HIRING BONUS New Senior Swim Instructors are eligible for a $500 hiring bonus after completing 500 lessons. Depending on teaching schedule and lesson volume, we anticipate reaching this milestone after approximately 6-10 weeks of teaching.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Senior Swim Instructor & Operations Specialist is first and foremost an exceptional swim instructor. This is a 32-hour-per-week position , generally consisting of: 25-28 hours per week teaching swim lessons 4-7 hours per week supporting instruction, families, instructors, and pool operations At Swimming Simply, 32 hours per week is considered full-time , and this position is eligible for our full-time benefits, including health insurance. We are looking for experienced instructors who can become anchors of our instructional team: instructors families trust, swimmers love, newer instructors learn from, and managers can depend on. This is not primarily a desk job or administrative position. You should want to be in the water—a lot.
WHAT YOU'LL
DOTeach A LOT of Swimming Teaching is the heart of this job.
You will:
Teach approximately 25-28 hours of swim lessons each week . Deliver engaging, high-quality lessons aligned with Swimming Simply's curriculum, lesson flows, and instructional philosophy. Teach swimmers across different ages, abilities, personalities, and learning styles. Differentiate instruction based on what individual swimmers need. Help swimmers make measurable progress. Create lessons that are positive and fun while maintaining high instructional expectations. Complete report cards and swimmer progress documentation accurately and on time. Communicate with parents and caregivers about swimmer progress and next steps. Develop strong, consistent relationships with swimmers and families. Celebrate swimmer progress and accomplishments. Maintain exceptional swimmer supervision and safety at all times. Be a Senior Instructor We don't use the word "Senior" simply because someone has been teaching for a long time. Our Senior Instructors help make the entire Swimming Simply instructional team better.
You may:
Model excellent lessons for newer instructors. Have new instructors shadow your classes. Help onboard and train instructors. Provide practical, supportive coaching and feedback. Help troubleshoot swimmers who aren't progressing. Support instructors who need help differentiating their lessons. Share ideas about curriculum, drills, lesson flow, and swimmer progression. Help leadership identify opportunities to improve our programming. Step in as an experienced resource when another instructor needs support. We expect Senior Instructors to welcome feedback themselves. Swimming Simply is a coaching organization, and everyone—including our most experienced instructors—is expected to continue learning and improving. Help Run Great Pool Operations During the portion of your schedule when you aren't teaching, you'll help make sure the experience surrounding our lessons is just as strong as the instruction itself.
Responsibilities may include:
Welcoming swimmers and families. Supporting check-in and customer service. Preparing report cards and instructional materials. Making sure instructors have the equipment and information they need. Helping with instructor coverage and substitutions. Answering family questions and escalating more complicated issues. Supporting opening and closing procedures. Helping maintain a clean, organized, professional pool environment. Supporting facility and safety procedures. Helping ensure programming is running on time and as planned. Stepping in when something unexpected happens. If you see something that needs to be done, we expect you to help get it done.
SCHEDULE
This is a 32-hour-per-week, full-time position with Swimming Simply. Because this job is centered around when our swimmers are available, afternoon, evening, and weekend work is a required part of the position. Weekend Availability Candidates must be available to work at least Saturday OR Sunday every week. Availability to work both Saturday and Sunday is strongly preferred. Weekends are some of our busiest and most important teaching days, and we need senior members of our instructional team present. Regular Days Off The anticipated regular days off for this position are: Thursday and Friday Primary Swimming Simply workdays will generally be: Saturday | Sunday | Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday Specific hours and teaching assignments may shift based on enrollment, seasonal programming, and organizational needs.

For instructors who want additional income or a schedule closer to a full 40 hours per week , additional teaching opportunities may be available through Swimming Everywhere . Swimming Everywhere brings high-quality swim instruction directly to swimmers at pools throughout the community. Depending on experience, qualifications, demand, and scheduling, Senior Instructors may have opportunities to work additional hours as a: Mobile Swim Instructor Travel to swimmers at residential, community, or other pools to provide individualized swim instruction. Neurodiverse Swim Instructor Provide individualized instruction to neurodiverse swimmers who benefit from instructors with additional experience, training, and skill. Swimming Everywhere opportunities are in addition to the core 32-hour Swimming Simply position and may allow interested instructors to build a schedule closer to 40 hours per week. Availability of additional hours depends on swimmer demand, instructor qualifications, location, and scheduling.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered for this Senior Instructor position, candidates must have: 5+ years of swim instruction experience. Strong swimming and water-safety knowledge. Demonstrated ability to teach children across different ages and skill levels. Ability to differentiate instruction for different swimmers. Excellent communication skills with swimmers, parents, and coworkers. Strong reliability and attendance. Ability and desire to teach approximately 25-28 hours per week in the water . Availability to work weekends and evenings . Availability to work Saturday and/or Sunday every week . Current CPR certification at the time of hire. Current Lifeguard certification at the time of hire. Ability to pass required background checks. Willingness to receive coaching, feedback, and continued professional development. CPR & Lifeguard Certification Current CPR and Lifeguard certifications are required at the time of hire. Candidates whose certifications are expired—or experienced swim instructors who have not previously completed the required certifications—may still apply. Swimming Simply can provide access to CPR and Lifeguard certification training so that an otherwise qualified candidate can meet these requirements before their official hire date . Because these certifications are prerequisites for employment in this position, candidates are not paid for time spent completing pre-employment CPR or Lifeguard certification training. Candidates must successfully complete the required certifications before they can be hired into the Senior Swim Instructor & Operations Specialist position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
We are especially interested in candidates who also have: Competitive swimming experience. Experience training, mentoring, or onboarding swim instructors. Experience working with neurodiverse or adaptive swimmers. Experience with swim-school, recreation, camp, or youth-program operations. Experience providing customer service directly to families.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
This is a 32-hour-per-week, full-time position at Swimming Simply , and employees in this role are eligible for our full-time benefits package.

WORK LOCATION
This position will work primarily at Swimming Simply / Swim Otters in Wheat Ridge, Colorado , with the possibility of working at other Swimming Simply pool locations depending on programming and staffing needs. Instructors who choose to take additional Swimming Everywhere hours may travel to residential, community, or other pools throughout the area.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This is a highly active, primarily in-water position . Candidates should understand the physical demands and environmental conditions associated with teaching swimming for a significant portion of the workweek. Employees in this role must be able and willing to: Work approximately 25-28 hours per week actively teaching in the water . Work in a warm or hot indoor pool environment , including pools maintained at warmer temperatures for young children and beginning swimmers. Spend extended periods on a warm and humid pool deck . Work around chlorinated pool water and common pool chemicals . Regularly enter and exit the pool throughout a shift. Work on wet and potentially slippery pool decks and consistently follow appropriate safety practices. Remain in the water for extended periods while actively teaching, demonstrating skills, and supervising swimmers. Stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, reach, and move continuously throughout teaching and operational shifts. Demonstrate swimming skills and techniques repeatedly. Physically support, guide, or assist swimmers when appropriate for instruction and safety. Safely lift, carry, push, or pull instructional and aquatic equipment. Maintain constant visual and auditory awareness of swimmers in a busy and sometimes noisy aquatic environment . Communicate effectively with swimmers and families despite typical pool noise and activity. Respond quickly and appropriately during emergencies, including entering the water when necessary. Work afternoons and evenings as a regular part of the schedule . Work weekends as a required part of the position . Adapt to occasional changes in schedule, teaching assignments, or pool location based on enrollment, staffing, and program needs. Because swimmer safety is fundamental to this role, employees must be able to maintain active, attentive supervision even during long teaching shifts and in warm, humid, noisy, and physically demanding conditions .
