AVON PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Position Title:
Special Education Long-Term Substitute Qualifications:

Must possess or be eligible for Connecticut State Department of Education certification that covers comprehensive Special Education for grades PK-12.

Degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in Special Education.

Reports to: Building Principal and/or designee

Evaluator:

Building Principal and/or designee

Compensation:

In accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the association and the Board of Education.

Period of Assignment:

Starting on or about November 13, 2026 through November 24, 2026.

Responsibilities:

The Special Education Long-Term Substitute has the following responsibilities as listed below and other duties and responsibilities as shall be assigned by the Building Principal and/or designee:

Monitor student progress in accordance with IEP.

Complete progress reports at the conclusion of ESY.

Plan and implement specially designed instruction for students in accordance with their IEPs.

Collaborate with related service providers and paraprofessionals

Provide direct instruction/support for students requiring special education.

Supervise one/multiple paraeducator.
