Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Embark on an exciting contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. This full-time role supports 1st and 2nd grade students, providing vital instructional and emotional support within an elementary school environment. Starting in August 2026 through June 2027, you'll be part of a dedicated team making a real difference every day.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Special Education teaching certification (or eligibility for endorsement) Proven success working with elementary-grade students, particularly in special education settings Strong classroom management, individualized instruction, and progress monitoring skills Familiarity with IEP development, goal tracking, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams Exceptional communication skills to facilitate partnerships with school staff, students, and families
Core Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and assess individualized education programs for 1st and 2nd grade students Adapt lesson plans and modify curriculum materials to meet diverse learning needs Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom atmosphere Utilize evidence-based strategies to promote student growth academically, socially, and emotionally Conduct ongoing assessments, attend IEP meetings, and maintain thorough documentation Collaborate with general education teachers, aides, service providers, and families to ensure holistic student support
