9644929-06810 Job Description Exciting opportunities await special education professionals seeking a rewarding contract role for the upcoming school year. Currently, there are two full-time positions available at a middle school, both spanning the 2026-2027 academic year with a Monday through Friday schedule, averaging 35-37.5 hours per week. The first opening centers on teaching 6th grade English Language Arts, Specialized Reading, 6th grade Math, and Specialized Math. Candidates with a background in reading interventions such as SPIRE, WILSON, or Orton-Gillingham are strongly preferred, as supporting literacy development is a key aspect of the position. The ideal educator brings a collaborative spirit and adapts easily to diverse learning needs. The second role focuses on Academic Assistance for students in grades 6-8. Responsibilities include working closely with students on executive functioning skills, supporting them in core academic subjects, and providing guidance in a resource-style classroom setting.
Qualifications:
Current Connecticut certification in Special Education or eligibility for certification is required for both positions. Knowledge or training in reading interventions for the first role is highly desirable. A commitment to helping students achieve academic and personal growth. Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Create supportive classroom environments that foster progress both in academics and life skills. Monitor progress and adapt instructional strategies as needed.
