A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Until Filled West Hartford Public Schools is seeking to fill a position for a Special Education Preschool Teacher at the Early Learning Center in Whiting Lane Elementary School. This position is in the ELC's Intensive Program. Strong background in early childhood education/special education working with students with significant global delays. Strong background with ABA best practices and DTI instruction is preferred.
Requirement:
CT Certification (112) (113). Please include a current resume, transcripts, copy of certification and 3 current letters of recommendation dated within the last 365 days. Excellent salary, benefits and working conditions.
