POSITION GOAL
To provide professional support for improvement in the delivery and effectiveness of instruction in the designated curriculum specialty at assigned levels and student populations To help students meet or exceed learning goals and to master skills for continued schooling or work (from Florida Statutes 1002.38)
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
The principle duties and responsibilities of the position of Teacher on Assignment include an assigned combination of the following, depending on the specialty, administrative organization and district curriculum improvement plan. General 1.
- Assist in the interpretation, enforcement, and maintenance of all necessary records in accordance with federal, state, and district policy and procedures. 2.
- Use appropriate means to provide a school environment, which is safe, secure, orderly and conducive to learning for the students. 3.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with parents, staff, students and the community. 4.
- Assure confidentiality of any personally identifiable data. School-Based/Restorative Justice 5.
- Coordinate program services for students at the assigned school and serve as a curriculum leader relating to the instructional program. 6.
- Identify master teachers and peer coaches with potential for spreading desirable practices that are consistent with national, state, and district goals. 7.
- Assist the principal in providing leadership for the implementation of state, district and school achievement standards as they relate to students served in the program. 8.
- Support school-based staff in the implementation of program best practices and Department of Education (DoE) programs and requirements. 9.
- Make recommendations regarding program design. 10.
- Develop program materials and services for administration and instructional staff. 11.
- Coordinate resources and materials used by students in the program. 12.
- Serve as a resource relating to the curricular, instructional, and assessment program 13.
- Assist in providing leadership for the implementation of state, district and school achievement standards. 14.
- Facilitate school advisory council chairmen support activities. 15.
- Assist in the development and implementation of positive behavioral support strategies. 16.
- Design and implement emergency medical and behavioral crisis plans. 17.
- Conduct regular meetings with department chairs and contacts. 18.
- Serve as a liaison with community agencies for the program at the assigned school. 19.
- Facilitate personnel development by providing school-based training and technical assistance to teachers and paraprofessionals based on identified needs. 20.
- Assist with coordination of the assignments of the paraprofessionals working in the program at the assigned school. 21.
- Work in collaboration with teachers to facilitate the development of support networks for students. 22.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and administrators regarding individual student diagnosis, programming, and progress. 23.
- Support implementation of the Sunshine State Standards and the district accountability plan. 24.
- Attend eligibility and placement staffings, suspension reviews, staff meetings, and in-service activities. 25.
- Develop and maintain technology skills necessary for adapting instruction, implementing augmentative communication strategies, and record keeping. 26.
- Act as liaison between the school and the district curriculum office. 27.
- Assist in the revision, implementation and monitoring of the school improvement plan as it relates to the instructional program. Graduation Assurance 28.
- Collaborate with school leaders, counselors, and teachers to develop systemic strategies to identify and support students. 29.
- Access and gather pertinent data to perform root cause analyses as to determine appropriate intervention path. 30.
- Develop and implement individual intervention strategies and graduation plans to increase the likelihood that these students will stay in school and graduate. 31.
- Work with students to develop a graduation and achievement plan to include the best program to meet academic and post secondary goals. 32.
- Track the progress of individual and subpopulations of students as they progress toward graduation. 33.
- Prepare timely reports on student progress towards meeting their graduation plans. 34. Coordinate resources and materials used by students in the program. 35.
- Work in collaboration with teachers to facilitate the development of support networks for students. 36.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and administrators regarding individual student diagnosis, programming, and progress. 37.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with parents, staff, students and the community. 38.

- Work with teachers to integrate digital learning into the curriculum: develop curriculum, model digital instruction in the classroom and coach teachers. 41.
- Collaborate on the development, implementation, and tracking of goals, objectives and strategies in the District Strategic Plan and Digital Classroom Plan. 42.
- Attend required trainings. 43.
- Provide support for the Digital Tools Project and IC3 Spark Certification. 44.
- Maintain a close working relationship with designated school(s) teachers, Digital Learning Teacher Leaders [DLTL], and administrators through regular school visits. 45.
- Provide a communication link between area schools, Digital Learning Teacher Leaders and district Learning Technologies and curriculum department. 46.
- Provide professional development opportunities for all district personnel, in all Digital Learning Curriculum Content applications to guide staff towards future readiness. 47.
- Collaborate with the Digital Learning teacher leaders to deliver professional learning to support professional growth through the Technology Integration Matrix. (TIM). 48.
- Actively participate in professional organizations and continuously update knowledge of program area responsibility. 49.
- Collaborate to develop and/or restructure service delivery models at the district level and individual school sites. 50.
- Develop and articulate curriculum scope, sequence and guidelines for instruction utilizing effective teaching practices using technology. 51. Attend school-based meetings that require specialized expertise. 52. Organize communication meetings to maintain close working relationships with teachers and school administrators. 53.
- Provide some technical assistance in classroom including orienting teachers to digital materials. 54.
- Assist in writing digital communication to inform teachers of programs and state requirements. 55.
- Aid with the school improvement process at individual school sites and provide DLTLs with strategies for involvement. 56.
- Assist in the development, selection, and implementation of the district technology initiatives. 57.
- Identify master technology integration and blended learning teachers with potential for spreading desirable practices that are consistent with national, state and district goals. 58.
- Produce and model sample technology integration lessons, using a variety of materials, methods, and assessment strategies. 59.
- Facilitate teacher's staff development by providing school-based training and technical assistance based on identified needs. 60.
- Act as liaison between the schools and the Learning Technologies and curriculum district office. 61. Participate in training on new Student Information System, Enterprise Resource Planning and Learning Management System. 62. recognition and fundraising. Social Emotional Learning 63.
- Track student progress and work with families and guardians of youth to develop a plan to meet the social emotional needs of students. 64.
- Follow up on youths' academic success in school. 65.
- Monitor attendance and work with youth, families and/or guardians to improve attendance as needed. 66. Interact positively with multi-districts and/or multi-agencies. 67. Participate in planning and developing social emotional learning programs and services for youth. 68.
- Serve as a liaison between home and school to obtain, share, clarify, and coordinate information and assist with services. 69.
- Work cooperatively with appropriate community health, education, and welfare resources, sharing and obtaining and coordinating information reports, recommendations and activities for maximum use of all resources.
70. Educate school staff on the rights and needs of students with mental health concerns. 71. Educate and assist schools with identification of students with mental health concerns. 72. Work with families and/or guardians to connect them to social services agencies. 73.
- Provide professional knowledge and social work skills in dealing with the wide range of social, emotional and cultural issues which may impact youths' adjustment, attendance and/ or achievement in school. 74.
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of school laws, policies and best practices regarding provision of services related to (compulsory attendance, child abuse/neglect, school entry/health requirements, exceptional student education, substance abuse, homelessness, discipline) and other pertinent areas. 75.
- Meet with families to discuss student's issues with parents, offer counseling where appropriate, and develop plans with parents and school staff for solutions. 76.
- Refer parents and students to appropriate school and community resources, as needed. 77.
- Maintain accurate records, logs, statistics, and reports for effective communication, documentation, accountability, and program evaluation. 78.
- Conform to all district policies including those regarding sexual harassment and the Volusia County Equity Plan which prohibits discrimination. 79.
- Attend staff meetings and in-service training as needed for job enhancement and personal development.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Education with additional successful teaching experience, Master's Degree in Education preferred Hold or eligible to hold a valid Florida Educator's Certificate Three (3) years successful teaching experience Minimum of one (1) year in staff development and successful coaching experience Experience in coordinating professional development related to performance responsibilities
