A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

We are looking for a warm, energetic, creative, and dependable Per Diem Teacher who understands that learning doesn't look the same for every child. About the Position This position will initially be one day per week . As our student enrollment continues to grow, there is an opportunity for additional days and hours . We are looking for someone who can walk into the classroom ready to teach, engage, encourage, laugh, and connect with our students . Our classroom is active and individualized, so flexibility, patience, and a positive attitude are incredibly important. The Per Diem Teacher will work alongside our support staff to provide meaningful academic instruction while helping create a structured, nurturing, and FUN learning environment. What We're Looking For Teaching experience, with ESE/special education experience strongly preferred Experience working with neurodivergent children and/or children with varying learning needs Ability to provide engaging academic instruction Comfortable modifying and individualizing lessons based on student needs Patient, compassionate, energetic, and flexible Strong classroom management and communication skills Comfortable collaborating with RBTs and other support professionals Someone who genuinely enjoys working with children and celebrates progress at every level Why Joyful Roots?
