A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.
Collage Day School is a dynamic, independent private day school in the beautiful Palm Valley area of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. We are part of International School Partnership's global community and serve students from infancy through elementary. Collage Day School is nestled on eight acres with winding nature trails and serene ponds. We provide your child with a safe and engaging environment that fosters not just their love of learning but also their eagerness to explore and understand the world around them. We are seeking a qualified and passionate individual to be part of our Aftercare Program, which runs Monday through Friday, 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm, with flexible scheduling. Our Aftercare Program provides children with structure after school and focuses on building social skills, improving communication, and increasing self-help skills. The ideal candidate must have a deep respect for the competence of young children and view the relationship with the child and family as central to the construction of learning. Each Aftercare Teacher is assigned a group of children based on ratio and will be responsible for facilitating fun activities and maintaining a safe environment for our children to learn and grow. Additional adult support is provided in each group to ensure that each teacher is adequately supported.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide a safe, caring, and enriching environment for the children enrolled in Collage Day School's Aftercare Program Responsible for caring for children with a diverse range of needs Establish and maintain a positive rapport with each child in the group Implement age-appropriate reinforcement systems and other applicable behavioral strategies Assist in organizing and facilitating group activities according to the provided activity schedule Adapt activities, as needed, to allow active participation by each child Encourage and facilitate social interactions between and among all children
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
High School Diploma or equivalent required Previous teaching experience strongly preferred Must be 18 years old or older Must have reliable transportation SALARY $20.00 per hour ISP Principles Begin with our children and students.
