A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

As a Teacher on Assignment, you will serve outside the classroom setting for assignments as determined by the needs of CSUSA and specified by the Principal. Specific areas of assignment could include, but are not limited to, leadership and administration support, teacher support, student support, or program development. How You Will Impact Education Works with teachers, students, and administration in support of student achievement. Prepares reports. Uses various office machines including personnel computer and related software. Establishes record keeping systems. Gives information and develops resources for a variety of staff, teachers, parents, students, or administrators. May oversee a specific budget. Provides workshops and designs professional development plans. Mentors and coaches teachers. Models instruction for teachers. Writes reports and participates in grant writing, as needed or necessary. Makes presentations, as needed or required. Conducts program evaluation.
