Job Description

Lutheran Services Florida seeks a Preschool Behavior Support Specialist to provide on-site behavioral support in early childhood classrooms. In this role, you'll observe children, conduct functional assessments, and design individualized behavior support plans that promote social-emotional development and school readiness. You will coach and model strategies for teachers and families, support trauma-informed practices, and respond to behavioral crises using safe, evidence-based techniques. This mission-driven position helps strengthen vulnerable children, families, and communities across Florida. Responsibilities Conduct classroom observations and functional assessments of preschool children with challenging behaviors. Develop and implement individualized behavior support plans in collaboration with teachers and families. Coach and model positive behavior strategies for teachers and caregivers in the classroom. Monitor and document child progress using data collection tools and adjust interventions as needed. Collaborate with mental health, educational, and social service teams to coordinate care. Provide parent and caregiver training on behavior management and social-emotional skill building. Support implementation of trauma-informed and developmentally appropriate practices in classrooms. Respond to behavioral crises using approved de-escalation techniques and safety protocols. Prepare accurate, timely documentation, reports, and case notes per agency and funder standards. Participate in team meetings, professional development, and community outreach as needed.
