Job Description

Make a meaningful impact by supporting students with visual impairments in a dynamic K-12 environment with this contract opportunity in the Tavares, FL area. As a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) with an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) certification, you'll serve approximately 15-20 students across multiple campuses, providing both direct and consultative services. This role offers a unique blend of in-person and potential hybrid/virtual work, dependent on district discussions and candidate preferencesa fantastic fit for those open to travel and flexible work arrangements.
Key Qualifications:
Active Florida Professional TVI license required Orientation & Mobility Specialist certification (OMS) required Testing and assessment background needed School-based experience is highly preferred, though exceptional candidates without this are welcome Ability to work with K-12 students in itinerant settings (visiting 2-3 campuses daily) Strong organizational and communication skills
Your Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction and consultation for K-12 students with visual impairments (caseload of ~22 district-wide) Develop and implement individualized educational plans and conduct formal student screenings Work itinerantly, traveling between up to 13 schools (district office serves as your home base) Collaborate with educators and families, supporting both direct and indirect service models Adhere to district credentialing, onboarding, and timesheet requirements Participate in the districts onboarding process to ensure timely credentialing and placement This full-time role (35 hours a week, 8:00 am-3:30 pm) is ideal for travel-loving professionals.
