Responsibilities Design, adapt, and deliver engaging lesson plans tailored to students' unique abilities, including those with autism spectrum disorders, developmental disabilities, and other special needs. Develop and implement effective instructional modifications to meet the requirements of each student's IEP, ensuring compliance with special education law. Utilize evidence-based behavioral therapy techniques and behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and support behavioral health. Collaborate closely with speech therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, and other professionals to coordinate comprehensive student support services. Conduct ongoing assessments of student progress using standardized testing and formative evaluations; adjust teaching strategies accordingly. Maintain detailed documentation of student progress, behavior incidents, and instructional modifications; prepare reports for parent-teacher conferences. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to discuss student development, share strategies for at-home support, and foster strong parent-teacher partnerships. Qualifications Valid teaching certification in special education or relevant licensure; experience working with students with disabilities preferred. Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development for diverse learners across elementary or preschool levels. Strong knowledge of childhood development principles, early intervention techniques, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder. Proficiency in classroom management, instructional technology integration, literacy education, math instruction, and standardized testing procedures. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders; familiarity with behavioral health practices is a plus. Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external specialists. Ability to implement instructional modifications that accommodate diverse learning styles while adhering to legal requirements such as IEPs.
