Job Description

A full-time opportunity is available for a dedicated Special Education Teacher for a high school self-contained classroom focused on functional curriculum. This contract position offers the chance to make a significant difference in the lives of students with diverse learning needs, surrounded by two paraprofessionals and an experienced Registered Behavior Technician. The classroom is structured for students requiring adapted instructional strategies. Your creativity and compassion will help foster a nurturing and effective learning environment. The assignment begins as soon as possible and continues through May 26th, 2027, with strong potential for renewal based on performance.
Qualifications and Experience:
Active Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) Special Education Certification, valid for Special Education content through the 8th grade Adapted Curriculum Endorsement required; candidates with pending credentials will also be considered Experience working in a lower functioning, self-contained special education classroom environment preferred Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with support staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams Commitment to promoting individualized growth and goal achievement for each student
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to diverse learner needs Collaborate with paraprofessionals and a Registered Behavior Technician for classroom management and lesson delivery Create a supportive, structured environment conducive to learning Monitor and document student progress, adjusting strategies as needed Communicate regularly with parents and guardians Embrace a fulfilling role with a strong support system, the potential for contract extension, and the satisfaction that comes from meaningful, daily impact.
