Job Description

Embark on a meaningful role supporting young learners as a Special Education Teacher at an elementary setting near Dalton, GA. This contract position offers a chance to work with an inclusion classroom, focusing primarily on students in 1st and 2nd grades, with some in Kindergarten and PreK. The assignment runs from late July through late May 2027 and includes valuable pre-planning days.
Key Qualifications:
Current Georgia PSC Teaching license, P-12 SPED endorsement required Dyslexia endorsement issued by Georgia PSC Demonstrated experience working in special education environments, preferably with elementary-aged students Familiarity supporting children exhibiting behaviors associated with autism, developmental and learning delays, and speech/language challenges Strong ability to foster inclusion and provide differentiated instruction in diverse learning settings
Role Responsibilities:
Provide instructional and behavioral support to a caseload of approximately 8-10 elementary students in an inclusion classroom Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and families to meet IEP goals Monitor, document, and report student progress, maintaining compliance with state and school policies Guide and supervise students, including assisting one student who requires oversight with a toileting goal (no diapering or changing involved) Create a supportive, positive classroom environment that enhances self-regulation and learning for young children Enjoy working in a setting committed to nurturing student success and growth.
