Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a real difference in the lives of students by serving in an inspiring educational setting for the upcoming school year. This rewarding contract position is designed for professionals who are dedicated to the success and growth of students in special education. There are two exciting opportunities available: a middle school role (grades 6-8) in a self-contained classroom (not focused on severe disabilities, caseload of 10 students) and the potential for an elementary inclusion position (grades K-2) with a caseload of 13 students.

Desired Qualifications:

Valid Georgia teaching certificate with Special Education Adapted Curriculum endorsement Experience or strong interest working with students in middle or elementary grades Ability to create and maintain a supportive, structured classroom environment Skill in adapting curriculum and instructional methods to individual student needs Strong communication skills to collaborate with families and staff Commitment to fostering student independence and social-emotional growth

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement individualized lesson plans based on student IEPs Utilize a variety of strategies to promote academic and personal development Maintain accurate documentation and progress notes in compliance with district and state requirements Foster an inclusive classroom culture that values each student's abilities Work collaboratively with general education teachers and specialists Communicate regularly with families, keeping them engaged in student progress
