Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into an engaging opportunity supporting young learners as a full-time Special Education Teacher in a K-2 classroom setting. You'll work closely with a small group of students—currently 9, with a maximum of 10—focusing on individualized instruction and social-emotional development. With the support of dedicated paraprofessionals, a collaborative principal, and an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist, you'll have a robust team to ensure a positive learning environment. This contract role begins as soon as October 12th or November 9th and continues through the end of the school year. The ideal candidate brings a passion for guiding students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and a deep understanding of Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) devices to promote confident communication for every child. What we're seeking: Valid Special Education Teacher certification Proven experience teaching students with ASD, preferably in primary grades Successful history working with children who use AAC devices Commitment to creating engaging, individualized lesson plans Patience, creativity, and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams Strong communication skills with parents, staff, and administrative teams
Responsibilities:
Provide specialized instruction and adapt curriculum for elementary students with IEPs Implement and monitor individualized education programs Collaborate with paraprofessionals, SLP, and other support staff Foster a positive, supportive environment focused on student strengths and growth Use and integrate AAC devices in daily instruction Maintain regularly scheduled communication with families and participate in IEP meetings Experience the support of a caring team and make a meaningful difference in the academic and social growth of young learners.
