Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a difference in the lives of students by delivering specialized instruction and support as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired. This full-time, contract opportunity focuses on serving a caseload of 24 students near Chicago, IL, providing essential educational services to help each learner realize their full potential. The workday runs from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, offering both structure and the chance to foster meaningful progress for students with visual impairments.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Certified Teacher for the Visually Impaired, with relevant state teaching credentials Experience working with visually impaired children, preferably in a school setting Knowledge of adaptive technologies and Braille instruction Strong collaboration skills to work with classroom teachers, families, and support staff Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with visual impairments, using tailored strategies and resources Adapt curricula and learning materials to ensure accessibility Conduct ongoing assessments of student progress and adjust instruction accordingly Provide training and consultation to school staff regarding vision-related needs and accommodations Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including occupational and speech therapists as needed Maintain thorough documentation and participate in meetings regarding student supports This is a rewarding full-time role that invites you to play a crucial part in each child's academic journey and independence.
